Autumn teaches us to let go and release what no longer serves us. The trees drop their leaves and once the leaves turn into rich mulch, the earth reaps the benefits of this transmuted energy. At the same time, we watch as all we have planted grows into a bountiful harvest for us to appreciate, feeding our bodies with nourishing food. These are the lessons of both death and rebirth, a truly incredible transformation of nature.

Many of us move quickly from one thing to the next, whether work projects or daily to-do lists, without taking a moment to stop and say “look at me, I did this.” Expressing gratitude to yourself, to your own gifts and wisdom can be a challenge, but is vitally important to our wholeness.

The ceremony provides an opportunity to do this. We can release what is still holding us back and create intentions to do better or different. Within that process, we can stop and take time to appreciate who we are, to honor the bounty and abundance of ourselves.
